FACE OILS ARE THE PERFECT MOISTURIZERS
A broad spectrum of cosmetic substances fall into the moisturizer category. Depending on their ingredients, they have different properties and accomplish different tasks in skincare. The most important job of a moisturizer is to keep, retain, or increase moisture in the skin. Another important aspect is to preserve elasticity and protect the skin from inflammation and environmental factors. Everyday use of moisturizers is very important in order to keep your skin in a good condition. The resulting question is: how to choose the right one for yourself?
TYPES OF MOISTURIZERS
The way moisturizers work depends on the content of the active ingredients.
To break it down – the most marketed categories of moisturizers are humectants, occlusives and emmolients.
HUMECTANTS (glycerol, propylen glycol, urea, AHA, HA) pull the water from deeper layers of the skin into the epidermis (the top layer). The skin looks juicy, hydrated and plump, but deep down, there is a drama going on – loss of moisture. It means that this is not ideal for keeping the skin hydrated.
OCCLUSIVES (vaseline, bees wax, mineral oil, silicones, lanolin) create an airtight film on the skin and effectively prevent the loss of water through evaporation. Occlusion is paradoxically also a downside. The seal is so airtight that it easily becomes a great environment for pathogens. This often results in inflammation, acne and also a very greasy feel. The use of occlusives might not be ideal for the face, but it is beneficial for other parts of the human skin.
EMMOLIENTS (cholesterol, squalane, fatty acids, pseudoceramids) are a third large group of moisturizers (this group includes face oils). The effects are very natural and with a little exaggeration we could say that emmolients are nature inspired cosmetic preparations.
The fresh, healthy and youthful look of almost every plant and animal is due to its natural moisturizers: lipids and waxes.
Emmolients (mainly oils and waxes) hydrate, soften and increase elasticity of the skin without pulling the water from the deeper layers of the skin or creating an airtight seal. They help to renew the natural protective film on the skin which prevents loss of water and protects from the environment. Naturally and softly. Emmolients are antiinflammatory, improve the elasticity of cell membranes and cell communication. The effect is most prominent half an hour to an hour after applying and lasts for 4 hours.
NOILI FACE OILS – MOISTURIZING & NOURISHING
Noili face oils are a perfect and minimalistic way to moisturize and nourish your skin without the chaotic use of many different products (reminder, always apply onto slightly damp skin). Squalane, omega fatty acids, precious lipids, antioxidants and vitamins make them the best moisturizers. Make sure to choose the right one for your skin type. Know your own skin type. For dry and flaky, you need a different ratio of nourishing ingredients than for oily and acne-prone skin.
For dry skin, we recommend delicate Light Beauty Oil Dry Skin or heavier Rich Beauty Oil Dry & Very Dry Skin. For normal and oily skin Light Beauty Oil Normal & Oily Skin or Rich Beauty Oil Normal & Oily Skin.
